Welcome to our website.  We are a group(kai) that meets in Decatur, a city within the perimeter of Atlanta Georgia, to study and practice

Japanese Archery (Kyudo).

Our name was chosen because of our location in  a lovely wooded area, where the evening moon shines through the trees.   Japanese names usually have a number of meanings depending upon the Chinese characters that are used.  Our dojo name uses ‘shin’ or ‘mori’ meaning wood or trees and getsu (tsuki) meaning moon.  One can think of it as the moon as our target and the trees our obstacles, or what we must pass through in ourselves to reach that target.

As a plus our dojo name has a number of meaningful homonyms.  It can mean ‘new moon,’ or even ‘new month’.  Lastly it can mean ‘true moon,’ and thereby encompass truth the first of the three virtues of kyudo: shin(truth), zen(goodness) and  bi(beauty).

We are members of the Georgia Kyudo Renmei, the American Kyudo Renmei,

the All Nippon(Japan)Kyudo Federation(ANKF) and the IKYF (International Kyudo Federation).  We adhere to traditional Japanese standards for the practice  and teaching of Kyudo.
